Indian IT Giants Form Consortium to Tap China's Cloud Market (2015)

In October 2015, five of India's leading information technology companies — Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Infosys, Wipro, Tech Mahindra, and NIIT — formed a landmark consortium to pursue major cloud computing and enterprise data centre projects in China's southwest Guizhou province.

Entering a Complex Enterprise Market

Organised under the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the consortium aimed to establish a unified operational footprint in China's rapidly expanding provincial cloud corridors. Guizhou was designated as a national big-data hub, attracting significant municipal and state enterprise investment.

Strategic Collaboration

Historically, Indian IT firms had competed individually for contracts across North America and Europe. Joining forces in China allowed the companies to share regulatory navigation costs, present a comprehensive technology capabilities portfolio, and build trust with Chinese state-backed enterprises seeking cloud migration solutions.
