Taiwanese brand Asus has expanded its budget smartphone portfolio in India with the launch of Zenfone Go. Priced at Rs 7,999, the smartphone will be available on Flipkart, Asus' own stores as well as major retail outlets.
The biggest rivals of the new Asus Zenfone Go in the Indian market are Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime, Lenovo A6000 Plus, YU Yuphoria and the second-generation Moto E. However, all these smartphones support 4G, whereas the latest Asus handset can access the internet only on 2G and 3G networks.
Asus Zenfone Go has a 5-inch HD (720p) screen and runs on Android 5.1 (Lollipop) operating system. The smartphone is powered by a quad-core 1.3GHz Mediatek MT6580 processor with 2GB RAM and packs 8GB internal storage. This dual-sim smartphone supports microSD cards of up 64GB and comes with 100GB of free Google Drive cloud storage for two years.
For imaging, Asus has used an 8MP camera with LED flash on the back of Zenfone Go, whereas a 2MP camera is used in front. Apart from 2G and 3G, other connectivity features of the smartphone include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and microUSB 2.0. The model packs a 2,070mAh battery, comes in white, black and red colours, weighs 135 grams and measures 10mm in thickness.
Peter Chang, regional head of South Asia & country manager of system business group, Asus India, said, "We are excited to announce the availability of ZenFone Go for our Indian users. Being the third largest home to smartphone users, India is a critical market for us and we intend to bring cutting edge products to consumers here, who seek power packed design sensibilities of a high-end smartphone at competitive prices."
